Prey

"Prey," released in 2022, is a sci-fi action film directed by Dan Trachtenberg. Set in the early 18th century, the film follows Naru, a young Comanche warrior portrayed by Amber Midthunder, who must protect her tribe from a highly evolved alien predator. Trained as a healer, Naru wants to prove she can be a hunter like her brother Taabe. As the predator hunts humans for sport, Naru uses her skills and intelligence to confront the deadly creature. The film was released on Hulu on August 5, 2022, and a full Comanche-language dub was recorded with the original cast.

The story takes place in 1719 on the Northern Great Plains, and the film is a prequel to "Predator" (1987). The flintlock pistol of Raphael Adolini, the interpreter of a group of French trappers, is engraved "Raphael Adolini 1715." It is the same gun a Predator gives to Mike Harrigan at the end of "Predator 2" (1997). Naru appears again, held in stasis, at the end of "Predator: Killer of Killers."
