Phobos is a short film released in 2017. Its story takes place around 2103, about 10 years after Prometheus (2093) and about 1 year before Alien: Covenant (2104). In the Alien movies timeline, it comes after Meet Walter (2103) and before Crew Messages (2104).
'Phobos' is a short psychological drama set before the events of 'Alien: Covenant'. Featuring what would become the crew of the ill-fated colony ship Covenant, the film joins them in the final stages of an unusual recruitment process for their upcoming mission, run by their future employer, the Weyland-Yutani Corporation.
Directed by Toby Dye, it was made for the home video release of Alien: Covenant and is included on the DVD and Blu-ray. The tests take place at a Weyland-Yutani facility on Phobos, a moon of Mars, and a shorter teaser was posted on YouTube on July 19, 2017.
A computer program tests the feelings and reactions of the Covenant crew.
