"Alien 3" (1992) is a science fiction horror film directed by David Fincher. The third installment in the Alien franchise, it follows Ellen Ripley (Sigourney Weaver) as she crash-lands on a desolate penal colony planet inhabited by violent male prisoners. Struggling to survive in the harsh environment, Ripley discovers that an alien creature has also made the landing. Charles S. Dutton plays Dillon, the inmates' spiritual leader.
The film is set in 2179, shortly after "Aliens." It opens as the Sulaco carries Ripley, Newt, Hicks and the damaged android Bishop away from LV-426, until a fire sends their escape pod down on Fiorina 161. Ripley's death at the end of the film leads to her cloning two centuries later in "Alien Resurrection" (2381).
Returning from LV-426, Ellen Ripley crash-lands on the maximum-security prison Fiorina 161, where she discovers that she has unwittingly brought along an unwelcome visitor.
