XENOMORPH TIMELINE
Alien 3 (Novelization) is a book released in 1992. Its story takes place in 2179, right after Alien 3 (2179) and 202 years before Alien Resurrection (2381). In the Alien books timeline, it comes after Alien: The Cold Forge (2179) and before Aliens: Bishop (2179).
"Alien 3" is the official novelization of David Fincher's 1992 film, written by Alan Dean Foster and first published by Warner Books in 1992. Titan Books reissued it in 2014.
Ellen Ripley is the only survivor when her escape pod crashes on Fiorina, a bleak prison planet. Once again, Ripley must face skepticism and the alien as it hunts down the prisoners and guards. Without weapons or modern technology of any kind, she leads the men into battle against the creature.
The book includes material later restored in the film's Special Edition, such as the ox that becomes the creature's host. It also changes the setting: the planet is called Fiorina 361, and the prison occupies a disused mining complex.
