XENOMORPH TIMELINE
Aliens (Novelization) is a book released in 1986. Its story takes place in 2179, right after Aliens (2179) and right before Alien 3 (2179). In the Alien books timeline, it comes after Alien: River of Pain (2179) and before Alien: The Cold Forge (2179).
Returned to Earth, Ellen Ripley learns that a colony has been established on LV-426, the planet where the crew of the Nostromo found the original Alien.
But contact with the colonists has been lost, so she must accompany a unit of colonial marines to discover their fate. And to destroy any Aliens found on the planet known as Acheron.
Alan Dean Foster's novelization was published by Warner Books in 1986 and reissued by Titan Books in 2014. It includes the scenes later restored in the film's Special Edition, such as Hadley's Hope before the infestation, and drops most of the film's coarse language. In the book, the Power Loader is a four-legged machine rather than an exosuit.
