XENOMORPH TIMELINE
Aliens: Dark Descent is a video game released in 2023. Its story takes place in 2198, 19 years after Alien 3 (2179) and 183 years before Alien Resurrection (2381). In the Alien games timeline, it comes after Alien: Building Better Worlds (around 2186) and before Aliens: Fireteam Elite (2202).
The game is set in 2198. Coverage of its announcement placed it about 20 years after the events of Alien 3.
"Aliens: Dark Descent" is a real-time tactics game developed by Tindalos Interactive and published by Focus Entertainment in 2023. Players command a squad of Colonial Marines as they investigate a Xenomorph outbreak on the moon Lethe. The squad fights its way through the moon's settlements and mines to find the source of the infestation, and Marines who die are lost for good.
The story is set in 2198, nearly twenty years after the events of "Alien 3" and four years before "Aliens: Fireteam Elite." Its characters are original: Maeko Hayes, deputy administrator of Weyland-Yutani's Pioneer Station, joins Sergeant Jonas Harper and the Marines of the USS Otago after the Cerberus Protocol, a quarantine system of armed satellites, cuts Lethe off from the rest of space.
In 2198, a Xenomorph outbreak at Pioneer Station triggers the Cerberus Protocol, which cripples the USS Otago and seals off the moon Lethe. Deputy Administrator Maeko Hayes and a squad of Colonial Marines must stop the infestation.
