"Predator: South China Sea," published in October 2008 by DH Press, the book imprint of Dark Horse, is an original novel by Jeff VanderMeer. The cover is by Stephen Youll. It was the last Predator novel from DH Press.
Former Khmer Rouge colonel Rath Preap runs an illegal hunting preserve on a remote jungle island in the South China Sea. Rich clients come there to shoot exotic animals far from any law. His latest guests include a South African arms dealer and a pair of former KGB agents, each with private reasons for being there. Then Rath finds his fences cut and some of his men missing. A veteran Predator has chosen the island as its own hunting ground.
The novel gives no date for its events.
