XENOMORPH TIMELINE
Alien (Novelization) is a book released in 1979. Its story takes place in 2122, right after Alien (2122) and 20 years before Alien: Romulus (2142). In the Alien books timeline, it comes after Alien: Covenant (Novelization) (2104) and before Alien: Isolation (Novelization) (2137).
Alien is the official novelization of Ridley Scott's 1979 film, written by Alan Dean Foster and first published by Warner Books in 1979. Titan Books reissued it in 2014 as Alien: The Official Movie Novelization.
The commercial space tug Nostromo is diverted from its course back to Earth when its computer picks up a mysterious signal from a nearby planetoid. The seven crew members set down to investigate and unknowingly bring back a deadly alien life form that hunts them one by one through the ship.
The novel includes several scenes missing from the theatrical cut, such as the crew listening to the beacon transmission before landing and the eggmorphing scene later seen in the Director's Cut.
