Aliens Online

Description

"Aliens Online," released on April 16, 1998, is an online first-person shooter for Windows developed by Mythic Entertainment and Kesmai and published by Fox Interactive. It ran on the GameStorm subscription service, and one map could hold up to 200 players. The servers were shut down on May 29, 2000, after GameStorm was sold to Electronic Arts. The game never officially left beta.

Players chose a side, Colonial Marines or Aliens. The Marines spawned at a drop zone and pushed through maps such as the LV-426B colony or the USS Coronado toward the hive, where the Queen waited. They carried pulse rifles and relied on the motion tracker. Alien players took control of drones, moved through air ducts, and could rise in rank to play as the Queen or the Empress. Later updates added new modes, such as capturing eggs or planting demolition charges.

Synopsis

Colonial Marines and player-controlled Aliens battle across colonies and space stations in this online team shooter, where the Marines must fight their way to the Queen's hive.
