"Predator: Big Game," published by Bantam Spectra in February 1999, is a novel by Sandy Schofield, a pen name shared by Kristine Kathryn Rusch and Dean Wesley Smith. It adapts the 1991 Dark Horse comic of the same name and has a cover by John Bolton. It was the last Predator novel published by Bantam.
A strange aircraft lands in the New Mexico desert, and the commander of a nearby Army base sends out patrols. Corporal Enoch Nakai, a Navajo soldier, sees his friend die in a burst of light and barely gets away. The other soldiers turn away from him. Nakai recognizes in the creature the Horned Monster of Navajo legend, once defeated by the hero Monster Slayer, and goes back to the ways of his ancestors to face it.
A Predator lands in the New Mexico desert and starts killing soldiers. Navajo corporal Enoch Nakai turns to the legends of his people to face the creature on his own.

Predator: Big Game (Novelization) is a book released in 1999 that takes place in around 1990 in the Predator timeline. In the Legacy Predator timeline, it comes after Predator: Big Game (around 1990) and before Predator: Cold War (around 1990).
