Predator (1987 Game)

Description

"Predator," released in 1987, was the first video game based on the film. Activision published it on the Commodore 64, ZX Spectrum and Amstrad CPC, and it was later ported to other home computers such as the Amiga. A different game with the same title, developed by Pack-In-Video for the Nintendo Entertainment System, came out in Japan in 1988 and was released by Activision in North America.

The player is Dutch Schaefer and starts with no weapons, collecting them as the game goes on. In the NES game, Dutch begins with his fists and can find guns and grenades, but only the laser rifle can hurt the Predator. The hunter shows up at the end of every few levels and must be beaten before Dutch can go on.

The NES game also has "Big Mode" stages with larger sprites, in which the screen scrolls on its own and each stage ends in a fight against the Predator.

Synopsis

Dutch Schaefer fights his way through the jungle to face the alien hunter in the first games based on the 1987 film, released on home computers and the NES.
