Cyberantics

Description

"Cyberantics," published by Dark Horse Comics in March 1992, is an illustrated children's book written by Jerry Prosser and drawn by Rick Geary. It is credited to Stanislaw Mayakovsky, the scientist of the comic series "Aliens: Hive" (later reprinted as "Aliens: Harvest"), and presents itself as an annotated edition of his book "Cyberantics: A Little Adventure."

In the story, Mayakovsky builds Ari, a cybernetic ant, and sends her into an organic ant colony. Ari has to find her way to the center of life in the hive, the Queen. Inside the fiction, the book was first published by Jiffy Books in 2172.

The edition adds notes on the text and an ersatz bibliography. An afterword tells the life of its "author" and hints at his later disappearance. Ari is also a character in "Aliens: Hive," and each work can be read on its own.

Synopsis

Dr. Stanislaw Mayakovsky's children's book tells the story of Ari, a cybernetic ant sent into a real ant colony to reach its Queen. This annotated edition is a companion to the comic "Aliens: Hive."
